Mayor Zohran Mamdani gives non-answer on growing homeless encampment near NYC Intrepid Museum
Mayor Zohran Mamdani offered up no response on Monday about why the Big Apple has failed to clear a growing homeless encampment near the Intrepid Museum following repeated complaints from locals.
“We are focused on connecting New Yorkers to shelter and on establishing a pipeline to stable housing, not just moving New Yorkers from one place to another place,” Hizzoner said at an unrelated press conference in Brooklyn.

“To this specific encampment that you brought up, we’re going to look into the details of that,” he added.
The Post highlighted the pro-Mamdani vagrants camped outside the floating museum in Midtown last week, revealing weeks-old 311 complaint that have gone unresolved.
Under the Mamdani administration, Department of Homeless Services have taken over encampment sweeps from the NYPD — and the current policy is for them to clear out shanty towns after seven days of outreach.
But that hasn’t happened at the Intrepid, where vagrants have been living on the streets on Twelfth Avenue near West 46th Street.
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
