Michael Chiklis Joins ‘Tyrant’ Movie Opposite Charlize Theron
EXCLUSIVE: Michael Chiklis has inked a deal to join Tyrant, David Weil’s culinary thriller for Amazon MGM Studios, led by Charlize Theron, Julia Garner and Demi Moore.
No word yet on the role to be played by Chiklis. Currently in production in Los Angeles, Tyrant is billed as a high-stakes thriller in the vein of Wall Street and Whiplash set within New York City’s elite fine dining scene.
Weil is working from his own script, based on a story conceived with Cody Behan, with Paapa Essiedu, Hudson Williams, Omar Apollo and Nara Smith also set to star.
The Picture Company partners Alex Heineman & Andrew Rona are producing along with Theron and her Secret Menu partners Beth Kono & A.J. Dix. Weil is also producing alongside producing partner Natalie Laine Williams, with Stan Wlodkowski serving as executive producer.
An Emmy and Golden Globe winner best known for his role in FX’s lauded LAPD drama The Shield, Chiklis most recently starred in the inspirational football drama The Senior for Angel Studios. He’s also widely recognized for his role as Ben Grimm/The Thing in the Fantastic Four films of the 2000s, with additional film credits including Don’t Look Up, Eagle Eye, The Three Stooges and Wired.
Chiklis’ other television credits include The Comish, No Ordinary Family, Vegas, Gotham, HBO’s Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, American Horror Story and Coyote, which he also produced. He is represented by UTA, Entertainment 360 and Ziffren Brittenham.
