New ‘G.I. Joe’ Movie At Paramount To Be Directed By Danny McBride
After being tapped to pen the next G.I. Joe movie at Paramount, Danny McBride is now set to make his directorial debut on a new feature film on the classic Hasbro toy franchise.
Plot Details are being kept under wraps at this time thought sources say this is certainly a high priority at the studio now that McBride is on board to direct.
The popular toy line was initially launched in the 60s as just a toy soldier toy but was given a boost in the 80s ultimately leading to a very popular animated series. This new version would introduce the commando strike force featuring iconic characters like Duke, Roadblock and Snake Eyes.
Paramount has made three G.I. Joe movies, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra which starred Channing Tatum and G.I Joe: Retaliation which starred Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis. They also released a Snake Eyes spinoff in 2021 starring Henry Goulding.
McBride is a New York Times bestselling author, actor, writer, director, and producer. He created and starred in HBO’s The Righteous Gemstones, following earlier successes with Eastbound & Down and Vice Principals, and recently published his debut book, Thrilling Tales of Modern Men. Some of his film credits include Pineapple Express, Tropic Thunder, and Alien: Covenant, along with voice work in Kung Fu Panda 2, The Angry Birds Movie, and The Mitchells vs. The Machines. McBride also co-wrote and produced the Halloween trilogy.
