NFL execs believe Texans overpaid for WR Marvin Harrison Jr.
For weeks now, the topic of conversation has been “which team will benefit from Arizona Cardinals’ wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. the most?”
And now we have our answer: the Houston Texans, who just managed to snag their first win of the season over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. This move pairs Houston quarterback C.J. Stroud back up with his Ohio State teammate.
However, it seems not everyone is happy over the trade. At least, what was given up for Harrison.
Executives from other multiple teams knew that the Texans needed to do something to feed their desperation after starting the season 0-4, but weren’t willing to give up a high draft pick themselves.
“Execs from multiple teams told me they wouldn’t have given higher than Day 3 (4th or 5th) for Marvin Harrison Jr.,” Yahoo Sports senior reporter Jori Epstein posted on X. “But 4-loss Texans believe reuniting MHJ with his college QB C.J. Stroud could unlock former 4th overall pick.”
Stroud was all smiles as he spoke about Harrison following the finalization of the trade.
“I think he brings a dynamic playmaker,” Stroud said after the trade was finalized. “Somebody who runs great routes, can catch really any ball. I loved him in college. Probably the hardest worker I’ve ever been around in my life. And who he is off the field, he’s a great dude, quiet guy but definitely you feel his presence. I’m excited to get him in here and get him learning and get him around the other guys. It’s perfect for him, I think fresh starts are good.”
