Nick Jonas Details His “Terrible” Audition for Frozen

Love is an open door, but Frozen was a closed one for Nick Jonas. 

The Jonas Brothers member recently revealed to stars Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel and Josh Gad that he once auditioned for the original Disney film—and when it comes to the rejection, he hasn’t quite let it go. 

“Funny story I didn’t realize I would be sharing today until this moment,” Nick shared on the Hey Jonas! podcast Aug. 18 alongside brothers Kevin Jonas and Joe Jonas. “I auditioned for Frozen. For Kristoff. I went in and they said, ‘Are you going to be singing today?’ I said, ‘Oh, I don’t know.’”

Indeed, while the original movie included a small solo singing part for Kristoff, it was the first time (in forever) Nick became aware of that particular part of the audition process. 

“I said, ‘No one told me,’” the 33-year-old—dad to Malti 4, with wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas—recalled. “‘OK, can you play something from—I don’t know, some musical theatre song.’”
