Omar Sy on ‘Lupin’ Season 4 and His ‘Stunned’ Reaction to the Louvre Heist

It’s given me a much more global perspective on the world…and on my profession. It’s allowed me to take a step back with the right amount of distance. One of the most important things I’ve learned there is that filmmaking is also an industry. In France, it’s something we sometimes find hard to admit. Yet, here too, we strive to make films that are successful and profitable. We simply talk about it less openly. Over there, that aspect is much less taboo. We can discuss it, study it, understand it. Today, this knowledge helps me as a producer. When you better understand the economic mechanisms of our profession, you can ultimately better express yourself, with even greater impact. For example, if I was able to develop certain productions, if I was able to make Father & Soldier, if we were able to make Lupin, it’s also thanks to this understanding of the business. It also allowed me to develop real estate projects in Senegal.
