‘Only Murders In The Building’ Adds Peter Capaldi To Season 6 Cast
EXCLUSIVE: It’s only murders in the building and mostly actors who have played Doctor Who‘s title character in the upcoming sixth season of Hulu‘s murder mystery comedy.
Peter Capaldi, who portrayed the Twelfth Doctor, has been cast as a recurring guest star in the London-set installment of Only Murders In the Building. He joins fellow Season 6 recurring cast additions Jodie Whittaker, who was Capaldi’s successor and the first woman to portray the iconic Time Lord, and the actor most closely associated with the role, David Tennant, who played the Tenth Doctor and the Fourteenth Doctor. Additionally, part of OMITB‘s upcoming season is Jim Broadbent, who played an alternate version of the Eleventh Doctor in the 1999 Comic Relief special Doctor Who: The Curse of Fatal Death.
The previously announced S6 recurring guest stars also include Nicola Coughlan, Richard Ayoade, Adrian Lukis, Kathryn Hunter, Jennifer Saunders, Sean Teale, Simone Ashley, Amar Chadha-Patel, Rhea Norwood, Matthew Beard, Sharon Horgan, Martin Freeman, Geri Halliwell-Horner, Jamie Demetriou, Anjana Vasan, Jane Horrocks, Derek Jacobi and Lesley Nicol.
Production on the new season continues in the U.K.. This marks the first time the comedy mystery series has ventured outside of the U.S., as the crime-solving trio of Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short) and Mabel (Selena Gomez) leaves New York City to investigate London’s newest mystery.
Only Murders in the Building hails from co-creators and writers Martin and John Hoffman and 20th Television. Season 6 executive producers include John Hoffman, Martin, Short, Gomez, Dan Fogelman, Jess Rosenthal, Ben Smith, Jennifer Crittenden & Gabrielle Allan.
In addition to his performance as the 12th Doctor in Doctor Who, Capaldi also is known for his portrayal of spin doctor Malcolm Tucker in four seasons of The Thick Of It, winning two British Comedy Awards for his work. He most recently starred in Apple’s Criminal Record opposite Cush Jumbo, and in season 2 of Amazon’s The Devil’s Hour, which has just finished filming its third season. Also a musician, Capaldi this year released Sweet Illusions, his second album of original songs, and is set to tour later this year. He is repped by B-Side Management.
