Perez Hilton Has Reconnected With His Children Following Self-Harm Livestream

Hilton’s kids, aged 8 to 13, are currently in the care of his mom Teresita Lavandeira, who filed for temporary custody last month following his Aug. 4 livestream.

The podcaster’s family previously confirmed that his kids, as well as Hilton’s niece and sister, were inside his home “just minutes before the public livestream incident.”

“When it became clear that Perez was experiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself, they immediately fled to protect the children from witnessing any further trauma,” his family said in an Aug. 6 statement. “Our highest priority right now is helping the children begin to heal from what they experienced.”

As for Perez, he was hospitalized for his physical injuries for weeks before being transferred to a residential treatment program. 

“Whatever anyone may think of ‘Perez Hilton,’ his past, or things he has said over the years, there’s a real human being behind the name,” his family shared in a Sept. 14 statement. “Mario is a father of three, a son, a brother, and a friend who reached a point where he was struggling so deeply that he thought the people he loved would somehow be better off without him.”
