Ravens Share Ankle Injury Update on QB Lamar Jackson

Lamar Jackson left Sunday’s Baltimore Ravens versus Tennessee Titans game in the second quarter after he was tackled by Titans defensive end Jermaine Johnson II.

Johnson held onto the quarterback’s left ankle to cause him to get off balance. Jackson’s ankle appeared to twist to the side on the tackle. He was originally ruled questionable to return, and then was ruled out for the contest. Ravens backup Tyler Huntley led the team to a 24–18 win over the Titans.

After the game, Baltimore coach Jesse Minter commented on his quarterback’s injury situation, saying he is considered “day-to-day.” Jackson is expected to be monitored and re-evaluated this week ahead of next Sunday night’s matchup versus the Atlanta Falcons.

“We don’t know enough about it right now. We’ll have to see where that’s at,” Minter said. “… Hopefully it’s in a good spot.”

Minter even said there was discussion for Jackson to return to Sunday’s game, but the team ultimately decided to continue resting Jackson. Depending on how the official tests go this week, it sounds likely Jackson should be good to go for next week, which would be huge, especially for a primetime showdown.

Here’s a closer look at the play Jackson was seemingly injured on.

However, The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec reported that Jackson left M&T Bank Stadium in a boot. It might be for precautionary reasons, though. The Ravens haven’t shared an official diagnosis for Jackson’s injury.

Jackson made his mark during Sunday’s game despite leaving before halftime. He completed 15-of-20 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns. He rushed for 20 yards on two carries as well.
