SAG Awards Is Changing Its Name

Ultimately, there will be no change to the awards ceremony, which will continue to be presented by SAG-AFTRA. They emphasized, “Only the show name is changing.”

“The foundation remains the same,” they noted, “it’s actors honoring actors.”

So, what happens to the standing of the awards of former recipients like nine-time winner and record holder Julia Louis-Dreyfus, eight-time winners Alec Baldwin and Julianna Marguiles, seven-time winner Allison Janney and the hundreds of other awardees?

“Past winners and audiences included will still refer to their award and the show as the SAG Awards, and that’s OK,” they explained. “We know it’ll take time to adjust to the change.”
