Selma Blair Charged After Allegedly Biting Flight Attendant, Kicking Police Officer in Head
Actress Selma Blair is facing two assault charges following an alleged mid-flight altercation that reportedly escalated after her arrest, with authorities alleging she kicked a police officer in the head while being transported to a hospital and later assaulted a nurse.
Blair was arrested after allegedly attempting to open an aircraft door and attacking flight attendants aboard Delta Flight 938, which was travelling from Los Angeles to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport on Sunday, Oct. 11, according to TMZ.
One flight attendant reportedly suffered a laceration, while another sustained a bite wound. Blair was allegedly restrained aboard the plane and taken into custody after it landed, TMZ reported.
The allegations then extended beyond the aircraft. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Blair repeatedly kicked a Port Authority police officer in the head while she was being transported by ambulance to a hospital.
When the ambulance arrived, Blair allegedly assaulted a nurse, who subsequently pressed charges, according to the report.
The state has charged Blair with two counts of assault, one involving a police officer and the other involving a nurse, Page Six reported, citing TMZ’s account. The allegations have not been established as findings of guilt.
Selma Blair’s Representative Says Actress Experienced Medical Emergency
Blair’s representative said the actress experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. “Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition,” the representative told TMZ.
The representative did not publicly identify the cause of the emergency. There is no confirmed medical explanation in the reports reviewed for the alleged behavior during the flight, ambulance journey or hospital visit.
The FBI is investigating the incident, according to reports. Delta said it has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior and that passenger and crew safety remain its priority. The airline confirmed that law enforcement responded after the flight landed.
What Happened on the Delta Flight?
The incident reportedly began when Blair attempted to open the aircraft door while the plane was in the air. Flight attendants allegedly intervened, leading to a confrontation in which one attendant was bitten and another injured.
Dispatch audio cited by TMZ described a request for medical personnel to meet the aircraft at JFK after two flight attendants were injured. The plane landed safely, and law enforcement was waiting when it arrived.
Blair was then reportedly restrained and arrested before being transported for medical evaluation. The alleged assaults involving the police officer and nurse were reported as subsequent developments.
Authorities have not publicly established the medical cause of the incident, and the allegations should not be treated as proof of guilt.
Selma Blair’s Previous In-Flight Medical Emergency
The latest incident follows a separate episode aboard a flight in June 2016, when Blair was removed from a plane on a stretcher after experiencing a medical emergency.
Blair later apologised publicly and said she had mixed alcohol with medication, causing her to black out and behave in ways she regretted.
The actress, known for films including Cruel Intentions, Legally Blonde and Hellboy, disclosed in 2018 that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
However, no confirmed evidence establishes that her MS caused the latest incident. Her representative has described the situation as a medical emergency without specifying its underlying cause.
The investigation and legal proceedings are ongoing, and further details may emerge as authorities address the allegations.
