SHINee’s Minho Turns Up the Heat With ‘Make It Hot’ as He Returns for Second Solo Mini Album After Nine Months

SHINee’s Minho is officially back in his solo era, and this time, he is bringing a little more heat to the music scene. The K-pop star released his second solo mini album, Make It Hot, on Monday, September 7, marking his first solo comeback in approximately nine months.

The six-track mini album was released at 6 pm KST (5 pm SGT) across major streaming platforms, with the music video for the title track “Make It Hot” dropping simultaneously on the SMTOWN YouTube channel.

Ahead of the release, Minho also met fans through a special countdown live broadcast on SHINee’s official channel, giving listeners a final glimpse of his excitement before the new music arrived.

The release marks another step forward in Minho’s solo journey, which began several years after his debut as a member of SHINee.

Minho Brings A Hotter Sound With ‘Make It Hot’

The title track “Make It Hot” is a pop dance song centered on EDM elements, matching the confident and energetic direction suggested by the album’s title.

The song explores the attraction between two people who find themselves drawn toward each other as the tension and intensity between them continue to build. Its dance-focused production gives Minho room to showcase a performance-driven side that has long been an important part of his identity as an entertainer.

The release was preceded by a series of promotional teasers throughout late August. Among them were concept photographs featuring Minho surrounded by warm, golden-hour lighting, establishing a sleek visual identity for the comeback.

An official music video teaser also raised anticipation for the full release, giving fans a preview of the atmosphere and performance style they could expect from “Make It Hot”.

New Chapter in Minho’s Solo Career

“Make It Hot” arrives nine months after Minho’s previous solo release and continues a career that has gradually expanded beyond his activities with SHINee.

Minho officially began his solo music career in December 2022 with the mini album CHASE. The project introduced listeners to a different side of the performer, allowing him to establish his own musical identity outside the group.

He later took another major step with CALL BACK, his first full-length solo album. Released in November 2024, the 10-track record further showcased Minho’s growth as a solo artist.

With Make It Hot, he is once again returning to a more compact format while exploring an energetic pop-dance sound.

Minho Continues to Balance Music, Acting and Variety

While music remains a major part of his career, Minho has never limited himself to one area of entertainment.

Since debuting with SHINee in 2008, he has built a diverse career spanning music, acting and television appearances. His work outside the group has helped establish him as a versatile entertainer capable of moving between different formats.

More recently, Minho appeared on MBC’s popular variety program ‘I Live Alone’, giving viewers a glimpse into his life away from the stage.

His ability to move between group promotions, solo music and variety television has kept him visible even during periods between musical releases.

Minho Set to Appear at the 2026 KGMA

Fans will also have another opportunity to see Minho on stage beyond his solo comeback.

He was included in the second lineup for the upcoming 2026 KGMA, which was announced last week alongside DAY6’s Young K and YENA.

The appearance adds another major performance opportunity to Minho’s increasingly busy schedule and gives fans a chance to see him return to a large-scale music event following the release of Make It Hot.

For Minho, the latest comeback represents more than simply another release. After building his solo discography with CHASE and CALL BACK, he is continuing to carve out a musical identity that exists alongside his long-running career with SHINee.

As “Make It Hot” begins its promotional run, Minho is once again showing why his career has remained remarkably diverse nearly two decades after his debut. From SHINee’s stages to solo albums, acting projects and variety shows, the 2008 debutant continues to find new ways to keep fans watching and this time, he is turning up the heat.
