Singapore: 21-Year-Old Cyclist Rushed to Hospital After Collision with Car in Woodlands

A 21-year-old cyclist was rushed to hospital after an accident involving a car in Woodlands on Sunday evening, May 24.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and police said that they were informed about the accident involving a bicycle and a car at the junction of Woodlands Avenue 8 and Woodlands Avenue 9 at around 5 pm.

The authorities said that the cyclist was conscious when he was taken to Woodlands Hospital for treatment. The police added that a 56-year-old male driver is assisting with ongoing investigations.

Dashcam footage of the incident, which was later uploaded to the SG Road Vigilante Facebook page, showed a black car moving through a junction before colliding with the cyclist as he rode across the road.

The impact of the collision sent the cyclist flying backwards several metres before he landed on the road. A part of the bicycle was also seen being flung into the air due to the force of the crash.

The footage quickly drew attention online, with several social media users expressing concern over the severity of the impact and calling for greater caution on the roads for both motorists and cyclists.

Meanwhile, the investigations into the accident are still ongoing.
