Singapore: Three Men Hospitalized After Garbage Truck Skids, Overturns in Yishun


Three men were taken to hospital after a garbage truck skidded and overturned at a junction in Yishun on Sunday, July 5.

The accident took place at the junction of Sembawang Road and Yishun Avenue 7. The police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were informed about the accident at about 11.20 am.

Driver and Two Passengers Hospitalized

According to the police, the garbage truck is believed to have skidded while traveling through the junction before overturning.

The 47-year-old driver and his two male passengers, aged 47 and 60, were taken conscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. The police said that the driver is assisting with ongoing investigations into the incident. However, no other injuries were reported.

Truck Left on Its Side After Crash

Footage shared on the Complaint Singapore Facebook page on Sunday, July 5, captured the aftermath of the accident, showing the garbage truck lying on its side along the roadside.

The video also appeared to show a nearby lamp post bent following the crash, indicating the force of the impact.

A separate photograph from the scene showed SCDF paramedics attending to three men seated on a nearby pavement. The men, believed to be the driver and his passengers, were seen wearing matching blue tops while receiving medical attention before being taken to the hospital.

The police investigations into the cause of the accident are still ongoing.
