Sony Buys A24’s ‘You Can See Everything’ & ‘Primetime’ In Key Markets

EXCLUSIVE: In a competitive situation, Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions has acquired rights in a host of international markets to A24’s awards season movies You Can See Everything and Primetime.

Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim’s Elizabeth Holmes doc You Can See Everything made its North American debut this weekend with a historic opening, ranking among the largest limited-release openings of the century and marking the biggest documentary opening in more than 20 years. The film, a mind-bending fly on the wall doc in which Theranos founder Holmes invites Fielder and Oppenheim into her home before she is sent to prison, has scored sky high ratings on Letterboxd, Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic.

Sony Pictures has picked up rights in Germany & Austria, Latin America, Scandinavia, Greece, the Middle East, Israel, India, South Africa, South Korea, and Southeast Asia.

Directed by Lance Oppenheim, Venice drama Primetime is currently playing in North American theaters and select international markets, where it has grossed more than $50M to date. Robert Pattinson stars as Chris Hansen, the Dateline NBC journalist who hosted controversial but popular show To Catch a Predator.

Sony Pictures has taken rights for Primetime in Middle East, Indonesia, Israel, Singapore, Switzerland, South Korea, South Africa, Thailand, and Vietnam, with theatrical releases currently being planned across those regions.

The deals reunite Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions with A24 following Materialists, which earned north of $70M internationally for Sony Pictures and brought the film’s worldwide total past $100M.

The A24 deal was negotiated on behalf of the studio by Joe Matukewicz, President, Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions; Virginia Longmuir, EVP, Business Affairs; and Elan Kovo, VP, Business Development & FP&A.
