Stray Kids Launch ‘STRAYCITY’ Music Festival in Colombia With NEXZ and Regional Acts
Stray Kids are taking their name to a new stage, quite literally. The K-pop group has launched ‘STRAYCITY’, a new music festival created in collaboration with JYP Entertainment and US-based concert promoter Live Nation.
The festival opened in Bogota, Colombia, on Wednesday, Sept. 9, marking an ambitious new chapter for the group as they continue expanding their global presence.
Unlike a standard concert tour stop, ‘STRAYCITY’ brings Stray Kids together with a rotating selection of artists from the local and regional music scenes. The concept allows the group to headline the event while also sharing the stage with performers from the countries hosting the festival.
Following the opening event in Bogota, the festival is scheduled to continue in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Sept. 14, before moving to Mexico City, Mexico, on September 25.
Stray Kids Take the Headlining Spot
The festival was developed jointly by JYP Entertainment and Live Nation, with its name directly inspired by Stray Kids. Having the group serve as the headliner gives ‘STRAYCITY’ an identity closely connected to one of K-pop’s biggest touring acts, while the regional lineup adds a distinctly local element to every stop.
The decision to stage the festival across three major Latin American cities also reflects the growing relationship between Stray Kids and their international fanbase. Bogotá, Buenos Aires and Mexico City have all become important stops for major global touring artists, and the festival format allows Stray Kids to reach audiences in a setting that goes beyond a conventional solo concert.
Rather than bringing exactly the same supporting artists to every city, ‘STRAYCITY’ will feature a lineup that changes depending on the location.
NEXZ Joins as a Special Support Act
NEXZ, another boy group under JYP Entertainment, is also part of the festival lineup. Their participation was confirmed in May, several months before the broader details surrounding the festival were revealed.
The appearance allows NEXZ to perform for audiences in Latin America alongside their labelmates. For the newer group, performing on a festival platform headlined by Stray Kids also represents another step in building their international profile.
The remainder of the lineup is made up largely of artists active in the Latin American music scene. Among the names involved are Andres Obregon, RENEE, BAD MILK, Kei Linch, K4OS and Cocho.
However, fans should not expect identical lineups across all three dates. The participating regional artists vary from city to city, allowing each edition of ‘STRAYCITY’ to reflect the local music community.
Global Project With Local Flavor
The festival concept is particularly interesting because it places a major K-pop act at the center of a lineup that includes artists from the host region.
Stray Kids have built a substantial international following since their debut, but ‘STRAYCITY’ allows the group to engage with local audiences differently. Instead of simply bringing a Korean-language concert production to another country, the festival creates space for regional musicians to perform alongside them.
That approach could make each stop feel different while giving attendees the chance to discover artists they may not otherwise encounter.
For Stray Kids, the project also comes at a time when their international momentum remains strong.
Stray Kids Continue Their Record-Breaking Run
Stray Kids debuted under JYP Entertainment in 2018 and have since developed into one of the most successful K-pop groups internationally. Their latest album, ‘THIS & THAT’, added another major achievement to their growing list of milestones.
The album earned the group their ninth No. 1 on the Billboard 200, tying them with Taylor Swift for the number of chart-topping albums. ‘THIS & THAT’ also remained within the Billboard 200’s top three during its second week, extending the album’s strong performance.
Their achievements have not been limited to the United States. Earlier this year, Stray Kids headlined Tokyo National Stadium, becoming the first overseas male act to perform as a headliner at the iconic venue.
The group has also continued to make an impact in Europe. ‘THIS & THAT’ recently earned Stray Kids their sixth French gold certification, further demonstrating the reach of their music outside South Korea.
What’s Next for ‘STRAYCITY’?
With Bogota now opening the festival run, attention will shift to the upcoming dates in Buenos Aires and Mexico City. The combination of Stray Kids as headliners, NEXZ as a support act and changing regional lineups gives each edition the potential to develop its own character.
For Stray Kids, the festival represents another evolution in how they connect with international audiences. After years of touring globally and building a loyal fanbase across continents, they are now lending their name to a festival concept that brings K-pop together with local music scenes.
With two more stops scheduled this month, ‘STRAYCITY’ is only beginning. If the Bogota launch proves successful, the festival could become another distinctive part of Stray Kids’ expanding global footprint.
