‘Supergirl’ Eyes M+ U.S. Opening at Box Office

‘Supergirl’ Eyes $55M+ U.S. Opening at Box Office

DC Studios and Warner Bros’ Supergirl arrived on three week tracking this morning with an outlook of $55M+ when it opens on June 26.

The campaign is just gearing up with tickets going on sale yesterday for the Craig Gillespie directed feature take of the Tom King and Bilquis Evely graphic novel Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow.

Unaided awareness –the tracking category where pollsters citing awareness of a movie without being prompted– is pretty even among men and women under and over 25. Overall, unaided awareness is higher than Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu ($81.6M domestic opening), Thunderbolts* ($74.3M domestic opening) and Shazam! ($53.5M). Note tracking hasn’t fully taken into account presales yet. House of the Dragon‘s Milly Alcock is Supergirl. The latest trailer that dropped has a lot of Lobo in it, the new antihero role played by Aquaman star Jason Momoa.

Last summer, the James Gunn and Peter Safran led DC Studios kicked off last summer with the former’s Superman which opened to $125M, and legged out to $354.2M domestic, and $618.7M worldwide.

Also hitting tracking and opening against Supergirl is Paramount’s Jackass: Best and Last with a forecast of $13M. First choice is currently best with men under 25. The pic is currently pacing slightly behind the previous installment, 2022’s Jackass Forever ($23.1M opening). The four core Jackass movies combined have minted more than $416M around the globe. Paramount has a hit this weekend in Miramax’s Scary Movie which looks to lead the domestic B.O. with $40M+.
