Taylor Swift Ditched Her Usual Fall Uniform for a Dakota Johnson-Approved Look
On October 5, however, she completely changed course while celebrating Travis Kelce’s 37th birthday in New York City. For an evening at Torrisi in Soho, Swift stepped out in a black cashmere and lace Simkhai maxi dress and oversized YSL leather bomber jacket with cool silver hardware, finishing off the Brooklyn-coded ‘fit with a pair of strappy Jimmy Choo sandals and small Givenchy leather bucket bag.
Clearly, pairing a flowy feminine dress with a tough, oversized bomber jacket is still an unbeatable fall outfit formula. In fact, this may be one of my favorite looks Swift has every worn in New York City, though I probably would have suspected foul play if not for the bag’s millennial-friendly cross-body strap. Don’t worry, she’s still our Taylor Swift.
Perhaps she was just inspired to switch things up a bit by bestie Dakota Johnson, who wore a somewhat similar look for her own 37th birthday dinner the night prior. On October 4, the star of Swift’s “Patient Zero” music video opted for a sultry velvet and lace slip dress by Stella McCartney, topping off the boho piece with a fur-trimmed cropped leather jacket and strappy sandals by The Row. This wouldn’t be the first time Swift drew inspiration from Johnson’s wardrobe and I certainly hope it’s not the last. So much so, that I even shopped out a similar going-out look to Taylor’s, below.
