The Bootcut Jeans Comeback Is Here—This Is How I’m Styling Them for Fall

I’ve never really been a denim girl, and yet I recently found myself wondering how to style bootcut jeans for fall. The biggest denim trends from the past year, including straight-leg and barrel jeans, just haven’t really resonated with me. Lucky for me, style trends are forever shifting, and now fashion is taking a turn toward more fitted and feminine silhouettes. And yes, that applies to our jeans too.

Bootcut jeans are the perfect in-between for people like me who find skinny jeans too restricting and wide-leg jeans too baggy. With a silhouette that hugs your thighs before lightly flaring at the ankles, this pant fit offers warmth, modesty, and elegance. You can wear oversized crewnecks without looking too sloppy (as you might with wide-leg jeans) or a fitted top without looking too squished (as you might with cigarette jeans).

This doesn’t mean you have to pack away your favorite wide-leg or barrel jeans just yet. Even though denim trends evolve like any other fad, there’s far less diversity in type and style to fret over. The fact that Levi’s, the original patent makers of jeans, is still today’s leading denim brand goes to show that there’s room for all types of jeans. In fact, I’m sure you’re sitting here wishing you’d kept your bootcut jeans from the early 2000s. But if you didn’t, I found plenty of modern styles available to shop now—along with some inspiration on how to style bootcut jeans for fall 2026.
