  • YDP Projects
  • Through December 19, 2026

Launched by Chinese patron and collector Yan Du, YDP is an independent nonprofit project space in a townhouse on Bedford Square in Bloomsbury that hosts exhibitions, an artist residency and a public program. Opening in time for Frieze, “true names” is a sprawling group exhibition exploring naming as a strategy and practice for preserving the essence of the individual beyond and against external forces, forging relationships between person and spirit, self and community, past and future. Conceived and guest-curated by Yuan Fuca with YDP in-house curator Jun Shen, the show features a mix of emerging and established artists from Asia, its diaspora and beyond, including Pacita Abad, K Allado-McDowell, Bernice Bing, Chen Zhe, Stephanie Comilang, Sara Flores, Gauri Gill, Pao Houa Her, Hannah Hur, Dorothea Lange, Colectivo Los Ingrávidos, Georgia O’Keeffe, Natalia Papaeva, Abel Rodríguez, Julia Rometti & Victor Costales, Shao Fan, Võ An Khánh, Anh Vo, Zeng Xiaolian, Tuguldur Yondonjamts and alyene. Through diasporic lenses, the show explores how relations among identity, spirituality and power are mediated and regenerated, highlighting how “both diasporic and Indigenous communities have long histories of adopting, concealing, translating, reclaiming, or modifying names under conditions of displacement, assimilation, and political violence.”
