‘The Sex Lives Of College Girls’ Officially Dead After Efforts To Find New Home Didn’t Pan Out

It’s the end of the road for The Sex Lives Of College Girls. Following the ensemble comedy’s recent cancellation by Max after three seasons, producing studio Warner Bros. Television shopped it around. But its attempts to find a new home for the series, co-created and executive produced by Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble, were unsuccessful.

“We were very much hoping to find a new home for that one, and I think we’ve now come to the end of the road, which is disappointing, because it’s a show that we really love,”Warner Bros. TV Group chairman Channing Dungey told Deadline in an expansive interview. “I’m so proud of the three seasons that we did at Max but I don’t think there’s going to be more of College Girls.”

As Deadline reported at the time of Max’s cancellation last month, WBTV was believed to be in talks with Netflix, where Kaling has a longstanding relationship, but the streamer was considered a long-shot new home prospect given the complexities of a potential move with rights of the existing seasons entangled around the world.

In a note to fans after Max’s decision not to proceed with Season 4, Noble, still hopeful at the time that College Girls would continue, spoke of the dearth of comedy on TV.

“I can’t help but mention that it feels like there are fewer and fewer comedy series every month — and we are living in an era where we need that comedy badly,” he wrote on IG back then. “So I really hope that turns around, but I will always be proud of this show for being the things that we weren’t seeing enough of: a hard comedy ensemble where ladies get the jokes.”

The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 3 series regular cast included Pauline Chalamet, Amrit Kaur, Alyah Chanelle Scott, Christopher Meyer, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, and Renika Williams, joined by new additions Gracie Lawrence and Mia Rodgers. Original cast member Reneé Rapp exited several episodes into the season.
