First announced in February 2023, the fifth film of the beloved Disney Pixar series has added a new roster of voices to its cast, and it will take on a prevalent theme in the age of AI and rapidly advancing technology

Who is in the voice cast of Toy Story 5? Are there new characters?

Of course, Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are returning to reprise their roles of the dynamic duo, Woody the Cowboy and Buzz Lightyear the astronaut, respectively. Joan Cusack also returns as Cowgirl Jessie.

According to Tim Allen, who spoke in an interview with WIVB, the film is “a lot about Jessie,” the cowgirl doll voiced by Joan Cusack.

“Tom [Hanks] and I do — Woody and I — do realign,” added the actor, who voices Buzz Lightyear. “And there’s an unbelievable opening scene with Buzz Lightyears. I can give you that, but I can’t give you much more.”

Also rounding out the voice cast are John Ratzenberger as the wisecracking piggybank Hamm; Wallace Shawn as Rex, the anxiety-riddled tyrannosaurus rex toy; Blake Clark — who took over for Jim Varney starting in the third film — as the ever-loyal Slinky Dog Annie Potts as the adventure-loving Bo Peep; Bonnie Hunt as the wise rag-doll Dolly; Melissa Villaseñor as Karen Beverly, Bonnie’s homemade toy fashioned out of a plastic knife; Kristen Schaal as the plastic triceratops toy Trixie and Keanu Reeves as Canadian daredevil toy Duke Caboom.

Recast voice roles include Jeff Bergman — who voices the Looney Tunes’ Bugs Bunny — as the sarcastic Mr. Potato Head, previously voiced by the late Don Rickles; Anna Vocino as the nurturing Mrs. Potato Head; (Previously Estelle Harris) John Hopkins as the dignified hedgehog plush toy Mr. Pricklepants formerly voiced by Timothy Dalton and Ernie Hudson as the action figure Combat Carl, taking over for the late Carl Weathers.

New voices and characters include Conan O’Brien as Smarty Pants, Craig Robinson as GPS hippo toy Atlas, Shelby Rabara as the excitable camera toy Snappy; Scarlett Spears as the sweet and shy 8-year-old Bonnie; Mykal-Michelle Harris as Blaze, an independent Armenian 8-year-old girl who loves animals; and Matty Matheson as the tech-fearing toy Dr. Nutcase. Greta Lee (Past Lives, Tron: Ares) voices main antagonist, Lilypad, a tech tablet. Deadline also broke the news that For All Mankind and Paradise star Krys Marshall has been cast as an adult character.
