Trump Deletes Post Depicting Obamas As Apes Amid Backlash Over “Racist” Video; White House Blames Lower Level Staffer
As a flood of criticism hit Donald Trump over a video depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as apes, the pst has suddenly been deleted.
The White House put the blame for the blatantly racist post on an over eager and lower level aide.
Contacted by Deadline, an administration official said Friday , “A White House staffer erroneously made the post. It has been taken down.”
But just hours earlier, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt defended the video, saying, “This is from an internet meme video depicting President Trump as the King of the Jungle and Democrats as characters from The Lion King. Please stop the fake outrage and report on something today that actually matters to the American public.”
On Friday morning, Republicans began to speak out, with Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) calling it “the most racist thing I’ve seen out of this White House.”
