Two dead, nine injured In New Jersey mass shooting

Two people have died and nine people are injured after a mass shooting in Trenton, New Jersey, according to police.

Trenton Police told CBS News Philadelphia that 11 people suffered gunshot wounds after the incident on the 100 block of Locust Street around 12:25 a.m. ET on Sunday.

The condition of the wounded people is not immediately clear.

Newsweek has contacted the Trenton Police and the Mercer County Prosecutors Office via email and phone for comment outside of standard working hours.

Several people are being treated at a local hospital.

The shooting is being investigated by the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force.

NBC News Philadelphia reported that before the incident, people had gathered together for a neighborhood cookout and gathering.

Police have not yet detailed how the incident unfolded and have not provided information about any suspects.

NBC reported that as of early on Sunday morning, law enforcement had an entrance to the Capital Health Regional Medical Center.

A vehicle was seen at the center being towed away that had visible damage.

From outside the medical center, NBC10 reporter Katy Zachry spoke to a woman who said that her nephew had been brought to the hospital after being shot in the head.
