Verticast, Microdrama’s “Tinder For Vertical Casting” Launches
EXCLUSIVE: The microdrama world now has its own casting app.
VertiCast has just gone live on the Apple App Store, with its founders, Darren Darnborough and Richard Cambridge, dubbing it “the swipe-to-match app for vertical casting.”
The app was created to help producers and casting directors locate and connect with microdrama and vertical video talent. In effect actors can be found with a swipe.
“As vertical content continues to grow globally, we saw a need for a faster and more accessible way for producers and casting teams to discover talent,” said Darnborough, an actor and entrepreneur who also co-created online actors platform WeAudition with Cambridge.
“VertiCast is not intended to replace traditional casting platforms. Those platforms serve an important role in the industry. We built VertiCast as a complementary support tool specifically designed for the unique speed and workflow of vertical productions.”
The launch comes as the microdrama boom continues to spread around the world, following its explosion in Asia and in the U.S., where billion-dollar industries exist.
“VertiCast was built to support the entertainment ecosystem, not compete against it,” said Cambridge. “The platform is designed to help simplify casting for vertical content creators and producers while creating additional visibility and opportunities for actors working in this growing space.
