Wall St slips at open as US-Iran tensions cloud start to second half

[NEW YORK] Wall Street’s main indexes opened lower on Wednesday (Jul 1) as fresh US-Iran tensions cast doubt over peace in the Middle East, marking a cautious start to the second half of 2026.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 88.0 points, or 0.17 per cent, at the open to 52,231.18.

The S&P 500 fell 20.5 points, or 0.27 per cent, at the open to 7,478.84​, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 174.2 points, or 0.66 per cent, to 26,039.507. REUTERS
