Where Is KJ Biermann Now? Judge Set to Decide Kim Zolciak’s Son’s Bond After Shocking Court Claims

KJ Biermann, the 15-year-old son of former Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak and former NFL player Kroy Biermann, remains in custody in Georgia as his felony case moves through court. KJ appeared in court Friday, Sept. 11, for a bond hearing attended by both of his parents, as well as his sister Brielle Biermann.

During the hearing on Friday, Fulton County Deputy District Attorney Caitlin McGillicuddy revealed that investigators had found videos on KJ’s phone that allegedly depicted sexual activity involving a relative under the age of 12, according to Page Six. McGillicuddy said there were allegedly multiple encounters shown in the footage and claimed the videos depicted KJ using “predatory, derogatory” language.

Sheffield asked the judge to release KJ on a $65,000 bond, arguing that his mother, Zolciak, could monitor him because she is currently not employed. Prosecutors opposed the request and asked that, if bond is granted, it be set at $190,000 instead.

KJ was arrested on Aug. 17 and is being held at the Metro Regional Youth Detention Center in Atlanta. A Fulton County grand jury indicted him on seven felony counts earlier this month, and prosecutors are seeking to have the teenager prosecuted as an adult.

The indictment includes aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy, aggravated sexual battery, three counts of sexual battery involving a child under 16 and false imprisonment. The charges relate to an alleged incident at a fitness center in Alpharetta, Georgia, in April.

His defense attorney, Jason Sheffield, has asked the court to transfer the case to juvenile court and has said KJ plans to plead not guilty. His family has also publicly maintained his innocence.

Where Is KJ Biermann Now?

KJ Biermann has remained in custody without bond since his August arrest. His defense team has sought his release, arguing that he is not a flight risk and pointing to his academic, athletic and community ties.

Prosecutors, meanwhile, argued against simply releasing KJ and raised additional allegations concerning evidence they say was found on his phone. The defense disputes the allegations against him.

Judge Melynee Leftridge said on Friday she would decide by Monday whether KJ will be granted bond. Until then, he remains at Atlanta’s Metro Regional Youth Detention Center.

KJ’s attorney has said the defense intends to enter not-guilty pleas at his arraignment, which is scheduled for Oct. 14.

Kim Zolciak Defends Son

Kim Zolciak has strongly defended KJ and said she believes he is innocent. Following his arrest, she described the allegations as deeply troubling and said KJ categorically denied involvement. She has also said that he voluntarily took a polygraph examination and that testing did not find his DNA connected to the allegations.
