Who Is Joheirry Mola? Meet Miss World 2026 From Dominican Republic Who Is Also Teacher, Journalist and Community Advocate

Joheirry Mola Dominguez of the Dominican Republic has been crowned Miss World 2026, taking the 73rd title after beating Spain’s Elisabeth Reynés, who was announced first runner-up, and Malaysia’s Taanusiya Chetty, who was placed second runner-up. Mola added the title to a career that goes well beyond modelling and pageantry.

Dominguez was crowned by her predecessor, Thailand’s Opal Suchata Chuangsri, who made history last year as the first contestant from her country to win the 72nd edition of the pageant. During the final round, Dominguez was asked, “Which Beauty with a Purpose have you supported in your country, and how would you improve it if you were crowned Miss World?”

Multi-Faceted Winner

She spoke about her initiative to bring English-language programs to children in vulnerable communities. “My Beauty with a Purpose is to take English programmes to children in vulnerable communities because I believe that knowing this language can open huge doors of opportunity for them.

“I was talking to the girls and telling them that, thanks to this tool, we are here today. It gives us the ability to express our feelings and communicate our purpose. For me, it is something I will always carry in my heart — knowing that I can give these children something so important. It is a tool that will stay with them and benefit them for the rest of their lives,” she responded.

The 24-year-old Santo Domingo native is a teacher and news correspondent, advocates for her community, and founded the social initiative Voices of Tomorrow.

Mola represented the Distrito Nacional when she was crowned Miss World Dominican Republic in 2025. Her national title gave her the chance to represent the Dominican Republic at the Miss World competition in Vietnam this year. At the time, the Miss World organization described her as a 24-year-old professional model from Santo Domingo, which has now been updated.

Mola earned a degree in Business Management and Administration from Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE). In addition to her modelling career, Mola has worked in education and communications, serving as a Literature and Social Studies teacher as well as a news correspondent.

Education is a major part of Mola’s work. Her official Miss World profile says she teaches Literature and Social Studies in English, while focusing on helping students develop critical-thinking skills and supporting their overall growth.

She is also the founder and president of Voices of Tomorrow, an initiative that works to expand access to English education for children and young people in vulnerable communities. The project seeks to help young people gain greater access to opportunities while building their confidence and giving them useful tools for the future.

Star in Her Own Right

Mola has also taken part in community programs supporting children. In May 2026, the Miss World organization reported on her visit to Hogar Escuela de Niñas Doña Chucha, where she spent time with the girls taking part in activities and community engagement.

Mola’s career also includes journalism and television. She works as a correspondent for Univision New York’s “Ventana a Quisqueya,” where she covers Dominican culture, social issues and stories from the community. Through her work, she has been able to combine her communication skills with her interest in representing Dominican culture and its communities.

In May 2026, she also worked as a reporting correspondent for a UNICEF telethon in the Dominican Republic, covering the event for Univision, interviewing participants and helping promote the campaign. The telethon raised $24.752 million for programs supporting children.

Earlier, in March 2026, Mola worked as a live reporter for Univision during the Premios Soberano, one of the Dominican Republic’s biggest entertainment events.

Mola’s community work has closely aligned with the Miss World organization’s Beauty With a Purpose philosophy. Through her Voices of Tomorrow initiative, she focuses on education, language learning, access to resources and helping young people build confidence and find greater opportunities.

Her work with children has continued throughout her time as Miss World Dominican Republic. She has taken part in visits to children’s homes and community programs, reflecting the social-service focus of her pageant platform.

Mola had already made her mark at the Miss World competition before taking home the international crown. She won the Americas & Caribbean continental title in the Top Model competition, securing her place in the Top 40.
