On July 9, prominent Spanish TV journalist Javi de Hoyos claimed in an Instagram post that Torres and his now ex-girlfriend, Martina Hunter Alguero, had ended their relationship days before Spain’s World Cup quarterfinal win over Belgium.

“I have spoken with people close to both of them, and they confirm that the romance is over, at least for now. Ferran is currently enjoying being single at the World Cup,” de Hoyos was quoted as saying.

De Hoyos also said that although Torres and Alguero were never officially a couple, they had recently been spotted partying together in Ibiza, Spain.

De Hoyos was also the first to report that Torres and Alguero had been seeing each other.

Alguero, meanwhile, had recently returned from a trip to Bali, according to her latest Instagram posts. Based on her social media activity, she did not appear to be in Spain celebrating Torres and the national team’s World Cup win.
