‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’ Summer Finale Scores Ratings Wins
EXCLUSIVE: ABC sailed to a smooth summer finish with Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.
The August 19 episode, which marked the game show’s summer finale, attracted 4.09 million total viewers for a round of In The Hot Seat with comedians Paul Scheer and Rob Huebel as well as actress Awkwafina and director Paul Feig.
The summer finale slightly outperformed the season premiere’s 4.07 million viewers and grew 17% from the show’s year-ago telecast (which had 3.51 million viewers).
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire boasted a summer average of 4.22 million viewers, up 9% versus last year’s average.
It’s been a big summer for the Jimmy Kimmel-hosted game show. At the end of July, the series hit a ratings high when Ben Affleck won $1 million for Eastern Congo Initiative.
Rebooted by Kimmel in 2020, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire returned for Season 5 last week along with Affleck and Ding, as well as Larry David and daughter Cazzie David. This week’s episode also featured Jason Alexander and Wayne Knight, along with Tig Notaro and Pete Holmes.
Who Wants to Be a Millionaire is produced by Sony Pictures Television’s Embassy Row and executive produced by Michael Davies.
