BTS Welcomed as ‘Honorary Guests’ at Bogota Ahead of Historic Colombia Concerts

BTS are receiving a special welcome from Bogota as the South Korean group prepares to perform in Colombia for the first time. Ahead of their two sold-out shows in the city, Bogota has officially recognized the septet as “Honorary Guests,” highlighting the group’s international influence and their role in bringing Korean music and culture to audiences around the world.

According to a report by Dipe on Oct. 2 KST, the designation was formalized through Decree 413, signed on Sept. 30 by Bogota Mayor Carlos Fernando Galan. The city cited BTS’ contribution to raising the international profile of Korean music and culture since their debut in 2013, along with their influence on younger generations.

The recognition comes as BTS begin an important stop on their ARIRANG world tour, with thousands of fans expected to gather at Estadio El Campin for the group’s first performances in Colombia.

Bogota Officially Welcomes BTS

Mayor Carlos Fernando Galan personally highlighted the significance of BTS’ arrival in the Colombian capital. Galan said, “BTS is more than just a band. We welcome them as honorary guests.”

The honorary designation reflects the city’s recognition of the group’s cultural impact beyond the music industry. Since their debut, BTS have become closely associated with the global spread of Korean popular culture, reaching audiences far beyond South Korea through their music, performances and international activities.

For Bogota, the concerts represent an opportunity to welcome one of the world’s most prominent music acts while also celebrating the connection between Colombian fans and Korean pop culture.

The city is also preparing to make BTS’ arrival visible throughout the capital. Several landmarks, including City Hall and Torre Colpatria, are scheduled to be illuminated in purple during the tour period. Purple has long been closely associated with BTS and their fandom, ARMY, making the gesture particularly meaningful to fans attending the concerts.

Two Sold-Out Shows at Estadio El Campin

BTS are scheduled to perform at Estadio El Campin on October 2 and 3 local time as part of their ARIRANG world tour.

Both concerts have sold out, with more than 53,000 fans expected to attend each night. The scale of the shows makes the Bogota stop a major event for both the group and their Colombian fanbase, many of whom have waited years for the opportunity to see BTS perform in their home country.

The city is also preparing additional public transportation services on the concert dates to help manage the expected crowds and make it easier for fans to travel to and from the stadium.

The arrival of BTS is therefore being treated as more than a conventional concert event, with city authorities preparing transportation and public spaces for the influx of visitors.

BTS Concerts Expected to Boost Bogota’s Economy

The concerts are also expected to generate an economic impact for Bogota. According to the report, spending by fans is projected to reach approximately 40.6 billion KRW.

The city’s tourism sector is also seeing increased interest surrounding the concerts. Flight bookings to Bogota have reportedly risen by 46.6 percent compared with the previous year, suggesting that fans traveling from outside the city are contributing to the increased demand.

With thousands of concertgoers traveling to Bogota, spending is expected to extend beyond tickets and merchandise to hotels, restaurants, transportation and other tourism-related services.

The economic activity surrounding major international concerts has become an increasingly important part of the live entertainment industry, and BTS’ Colombian debut is expected to bring similar benefits to businesses across the capital.

BTS Continue Their South American Tour

Bogota is only one stop on BTS‘ South American itinerary. Following their performances in Colombia, the group will continue the ARIRANG world tour with scheduled stops in Lima, Santiago, Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo.

The South American leg gives BTS the opportunity to meet fans across several major cities and marks another major chapter in their return to the global touring circuit.

For Bogota, however, the Oct. 2 and Oct. 3 concerts carry an additional significance. The city’s official honorary guest designation, purple-lit landmarks and additional transportation arrangements demonstrate the scale of preparations surrounding BTS’ first-ever Colombian shows.

As Estadio El Campin prepares to welcome tens of thousands of fans each night, Bogota is making sure BTS’ long-awaited arrival is recognized throughout the city, both as a major musical event and as a celebration of the group’s cultural connection with Colombian audiences.
