Major champion suddenly withdraws from LIV Golf event amid injury
Louis Oosthuizen suddenly withdrew from the LIV Golf event in Andalucia, Spain this weekend after picking up a back injury.
“I unfortunately won’t be taking part in the final round of LIV Golf Andalucia due to a back injury preventing me from performing at my best,” he announced on social media.
Ooshuizen also revealed Wade Ormsby would be his replacement in the event. Before he exited the tournament with an injury, Oosthuizen was well off the pace, sitting at three-over heading into the final round of the tournament, a full 13 shots behind 54-hold leader Tyrrell Hatton.

Oosthuizen recently commented on the Saudi Public Investment Fund pulling its funding after the 2026 season, leaving the LIV Golf league in jeopardy.
“I mean, from starting five years ago, we’ve always been on the bad side of media. We’ve always been there to take all the hard punches and everyone telling us we’re done and dusted every few months or something,” he said.
“As players, we are very positive, we are very happy with Scott [O’Neil], leading us going forward and, you know, we’re excited for the 2027 season as Southern Guards. We can’t wait to start new relationships with new sponsors and just make next year even bigger and better. So the momentum continues for the team looking into 2027 and beyond.”
