Switzerland National Team releases shocking graphic for California soccer facility
The World Cup is quickly approaching, and the Switzerland National Team is ready to go. But players might have to watch where they step.
The club released renderings of what its San Diego training site will look like, and it featured a warning sign near the edge of the facility.
As the image shows, the facility overlooks a cliff at the San Diego Jewish Academy in Carmel Valley. The picture shows a highlighted red area deemed as “SNAKE AREA,” warning players and fans to stay away from the edge.
Carmel Valley is no stranger to snakes; people have been bitten by rattlesnakes while hiking in the area.
Outside of the snake warnings, the renderings show what the training facility looks like, including a dressing area in the back, a gym area next to it, the main practice field in the center and a goalkeeper area near the front.
Switzerland recently played its final exhibition match before the World Cup against Australia at Snapdragon Stadium, 19 miles south of Carmel Valley.
Friday night’s friendly ended in a 1-1 draw. Switzerland scored 14 minutes into the match on a goal by Dan Ndoye.
Despite the draw, Switzerland maintained control of the ball throughout the match, controlling it 62.5% of the time and landing three shots on goal.
Switzerland is part of Group B and is scheduled to play Qatar at noon PT Saturday at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.
